Rourkela/New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) rescued a minor girl of Odisha’s Sundargarh from Jhunjhun in Rajasthan. She is pregnant now.
According to sources, the minor girl was sold to Mukesh Agrawal and Kishan Agrawal by some of her relatives in Rourkela in December 2017. Her father, a native of Lathikata in Sundargarh district, alleged that though he had reported the matter to police, no step was taken to trace her, following which, he approached DWC for help.
On the basis of the complaint, anti-trafficking squad conducted raids and rescued minor girl from Rajasthan and brought her to Delhi. The duo to whom she was sold have also been arrested.
“We have rescued the 16-year-old girl from Jhunjhun district in Rajasthan. She went missing from Rourkela in 2017. She was sold to a 40-year-old man by her sister and brother-in-law for Rs 4 lakh,” said DCW Chief Swati Maliwal.
