New Delhi: PLA soldier Corporal Wang Ya Long was handed over to Chinese Army by the Indian Army on Wednesday morning. Long accidentally crossed over to Indian territory in Demchok sector of eastern Ladakh on Monday.
Corporal Wang Ya Long with his identity card in his pocket, belongs to central Zhejiang province’s Shangxizhen town in China. He was disoriented when Indian troops took him into custody in the Demchok sector, The Times of India reported on Monday.
“He will be handed over to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the Chushul-Moldo border point after the formalities are completed, as per the protocol, within the next few days,” the Indian Army was quoted as saying by the paper on Tuesday.
The incident happened when India and China are on the threshold of the eighth round of corps commander-level talks scheduled later this week.
