Cuttack: After news about Odisha MLA Bijay Shankar Das applying for marriage registration spread, his estranged girlfriend Somalika Dash on Saturday submitted an objection against his application at the sub-registrar office in Cuttack.
Emerging from the office of the sub-registrar, Somalika told reporters that she has submitted a written complaint and alleged that the BJD legislator from Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur district may repeat the same thing as he had done with her.
Claiming that the MLA along with her had applied for marriage registration eight months ago, she alleged that the BJD leader never turned up on the marriage date. Somalika has lodged a police complaint against the lawmaker in Jagatsinghpur.
Stating that she is yet to get justice, Somalika said Bijay Shanker should have been arrested by now, but no action has been taken against him. He is planning to marry someone else only because of his political power, she claimed.
Somalika sought to know as to how the legislator can marry another woman after ‘destroying’ her life. “As I am still waiting for the justice, how can he marry someone without anyone’s notice? When the police case is pending, the MLA is applying for marriage registration with another woman,” she claimed.
“Therefore, I have filed a complaint objecting to the application submitted by Bijay Shankar for registration of his marriage,” said Somalika.
Accusing the police of harassing her, she claimed that the police are asking her to record her statements several times in Jagatsinghpur, while Bijay Shankar bas never been questioned.
As per reports, the lawmaker is going to marry another woman of Arunodaya Market area in Cuttack. He submitted the application on September 21 for registration of marriage with another woman at the office of the sub-registrar of marriage in Cuttack.
