Bhubaneswar: In a sudden reshuffle in senior IPS cadre, Odisha government on Monday appointed 1995 batch IPS officer Soumendra Priyadarshi as twin city Police Commissioner.
According to a Home department notification, Priyadarshi, who is presently posted as ADG, Crime Branch, will take charge of his new assignment from Sudhanshu Sarangi, IPS officer of 1990 batch.
Sarangi, who is posted as CMD of Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), will replace 1988 batch IPS M Akhaya, who is presently posted as DG, Fire Services and Home Guards, the notification added.
Asked about his reaction following the notification, Priyadarshi said as the state government has given him the new responsibility by reposing immense faith in him, he will try his best to discharge the new responsibility with sincerity and successfully.
Notably, Sarangi was posted as the twin city Police Commissioner on August 21, 2019 after taking charge from the 1988-batch IPS officer Satyajit Mohanty.
