Bhubaneswar: In order to prevent illegal wildlife trade and protect the wild animals, judicial magistrates will function as special courts in Odisha.
In a letter to the Principal Secretary of Law department of the state government, Special Officer of the Orissa High Court has stated that the special courts to try wildlife cases will come up in each district.
The courts of the Chief Judicial Magistrate or Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate will function as the special courts.
In an exception to Sundargarh district, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sundargarh and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rourkela will act as special courts, the letter stated.
The department has been told to take up the matter with the government to issue a notification in this regard.
