Puri: Sandhya alati of ‘Tirtharaj Mahodadhi’ will be performed on its 18th anniversary at Puri beach in front of Swargadwar on Thursday with a spirit of devotion.
The special Alati will be performed in the evening on the occasion of Pusha Purnima marking the completion of 18 years of this ritual at Puri beach, sources said.
While Mahodadhi Alati is performed by the Gobardhan Pith every day, it will be held in with special arrangements on Thursday. Apart from Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati and Gajapati Dibyasingha Dev, Union Minister Bhshweswar Tudu and a host of other dignitaries will participate in the programme.
Sadhus and saints from different parts of the country will be present on the occasion to give special message on spiritualism and religion to the devotees.
A large number of devotees are likely to throng the beach to witness the special Alati, being organised with an aim to maintain world peace and welfare of humankind. While the process will begin in the afternoon, the Shankaracharya will perform the Alati in the presence of other dignitaries and devotees.
