Puri: The Indian Railways will be running 857 special trains for 20 lakhs pilgrims visiting Puri to participate in the world-famous Rath Yatra of the sibling deities of Jagannath Temple here.
“Elaborate arrangements have been made at Puri railway stations to ensure proper drinking water supply and toilets. AI technology has been used to ensure that buses automatically leave Malatipatpur as soon as a train arrives here to aid their onward journey. Tents have been put up, and devotees are being provided free food too. Priority has been given to safety and security of the pilgrims and a 24*7 police control room has also been set up,” Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the media.
According to ECoR, 208 special trains will be operated from different parts of Odisha as well as Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
