Nayagarh: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Thursday conducted speed test on the newly-built track 12-km Broad Gauge line between Nayagarh Town and Mahipur. It is part of the 289-km Khurda Road-Balangir railway line project.
During the trial run, a passenger train with bogies rolled on the track between the two stations during the trial run. Only an engine was used in the first trial run on July 20.
The track is likely to be opened for traffic after a high-level inspection by Commissioner, Railway Safety.
With this 12 km rail line, the ECoR has already completed 92 km of the Khurda Road-Balangir project, which includes 80 km of rail line, 65.5 km from Khurda Road to Nayagarh Town and 14.5 km from Balangir to Bichhupalli completed earlier.
