Keonjhar: A staff of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Odisha’s Keonjhar district died after being run over by a speeding lorry on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Bijay Kumar Mohanty, a driver of the RTO.
According to sources, a motor vehicle inspection team was on its way to a temporary driving licence camp at Anandpur and found a truck moving on the wrong side of the road at the bypass near Pokharipani.
As the driver of the RTO ran to the other side of the road to stop the truck, a lorry coming from the opposite side ran over him and sped away.
On being informed, the Town Police rushed to the spot.
“Efforts are on to trace the lorry and the driver,” Keonjhar SDPO Prakash James Toppo said.
