Sports Fest: SOA Wins Cricket & Tennis Crowns, 2nd In Volleyball, Basketball

Bhubaneswar: SOA Deemed to be University won the cricket and tennis events, and finished runner-up in volleyball and basketball at the four-day Sports Fest organised by the university.

The cricket final between SOA and CV Raman Global University ended in a thrilling tie. The home team scored 91/8 off in 12 overs, while CVRGU made 91/5 in their allotted overs. SOA edged out CVRGU in the tie-breaker.

SOA and CV Raman Global University clashed in the tennis final as well with the hosts emerging trumps according to AIU rules.

Amitoj Singh and Jaydish won their respective men’s singles matches, while Nilanjana Saha won the women’s singles. Amitoj & Jaydish blanked their rivals in doubles.

Utkal University claimed the men’s basketball title overcoming SOA 54-40 in the final.

In the women’s basketball final, Rama Devi Women’s University beat SOA 31-25.

CV Raman Global University lifted the men’s volleyball title defeating SOA 25-17, 26-24.

Teams from Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology, won the e-Sports events CODM and Valorant. ASBM University finished runner-up in CODM while Silicon Institute of Technology came second in Valorant.

A total of 16 universities, including SOA, participated in the meet which concluded on Tuesday.

The winners were presented with cash awards, certificates and trophies.

SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bijay Kumar Sahoo, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Dean of faculty of Medical Sciences Prof. (Dr) Sanghamitra Mishra, Dean of faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Prof. Sudam C. Si, Dean of faculty of management sciences Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Dean (Student’s Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das and Sports Officer Sunita Barma attended the presentation ceremony.
