Bhubaneswar: The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory for the farmers following forecast of heavy rain and hailstorm in 8 districts of the state.
In its evening bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that heavy rainfall and hailstorm are very likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj during next 16 hours.
Following the forecast, the SRC directed the district authorities to keep a close watch on the situation and take necessary steps in case of emergency. He also advised the farmers of the districts likely to be affected to cover the harvested crops to prevent damage by rain and hailstorm.
As the IMD forecast dense fog at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Jajpur on morning of December 30 and 31, the SRC told the police and transport officials to take necessary steps for controlled plying of vehicles on highways to prevent mishaps on the two days.
