Bhubaneswar: To contain and minimise corrupt practices in rural housing schemes, the state vigilance department on Thursday launched seven dedicated helpline numbers.
“A special drive has been started by the vigilance department to curb corruption in different rural housing schemes so as to ensure that the poor beneficiaries avail full benefits of such schemes and also to have a deterrent effect on the corrupt public servants. Soon after its initiation, we have been receiving feedback from general public through toll free number, e-mail, Facebook and Twitter of the vigilance organisation. For instant action and to raise public awareness, seven landline phones have been dedicated in different vigilance divisions including the vigilance directorate. We will take calls from 8 am to 8 pm everyday,” vigilance director Rajendra Prasad Sharma told mediapersons here.
Fraud to the tune of Rs 86 lakh has so far been detected and nine persons have been arrested over corruption in rural housing schemes, he added.
The helpline numbers are 0674-2397748 (Bhubaneswar), 0671-2305682 (Cuttack), 0680-2282300 (Berhampur), 0663-241412115 (Sambalpur), 0678-2255005 (Balasore), 0685-4233330 (Koraput) and 0671-2305988 (vigilance headquarters, Cuttack).
