Malkangiri: The south Odisha district of Malkangiri has been witnessing a steady rise in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. The affected tally touched 274 on Sunday with overnight addition of 18 fresh cases.
Of 18 fresh cases, eight have been reported from Malkangiri Municipality of which three are symptomatic cases found during door-to-door intensive surveillance and screening, one is a returnee from the hotspot district with symptoms, two having close contact with previously found positive cases and two are symptomatic without any travel history.
Of the remaining 10 cases, six are from Balimela NAC of which one is a close direct contact of previous positive patient, one symptomatic without any travel history, one symptomatic referral from Flu and Fever Clinic.
Out of the above, two symptomatic cases without any travel history are from Malkangiri block and two others from Kalimela block are returnee of Maharashtra and housed in a temporary medical camp.
With 162 recoveries, Malkangiri now has 130 active cases.
