Balangir: the students and teachers of a school for physically challenged children have tested positive for COVID in Odisha’s Balangir district.
According to sources, a student of Red Cross School For Deaf and MR at Saintala complained of fever on Friday and was admitted to district headquarters hospital in Balangir. During mandatory COVID test, he tested positive for the disease and was shifted to the COVID Ward in the hospital.
Following this, Saintala BDO intervened and directed to conduct COVID test of all students and teachers of the school on Saturday. During the test, 10 students and two teachers were confirmed to have been infected by coronavirus.
On the instruction of the BDO, all the infected students, who are also staying in the school hostel, have been accommodated in a separated and isolated room. The school has around 90 students and all of them are staying in the hostel.
The entire school premises have been sanitised and its surrounding areas declared as containment zone by the district administration.
