Cuttack: In a new development in the Berhampur marital discord case between Dr Sumit Sahu and Tapaswini, Orissa High Court on Tuesday lowered the monthly maintenance amount.
Orissa HC ordered Dr Sumit of Brahmanagar in Berhampur to pay Rs 10,000 maintenance to his wife Tapaswini after his family filed an appeal and assured to make arrangements for Tapaswini’s stay elsewhere.
The court also directed Sumit to find a separate house with all facilities in Aska for Tapaswini’s stay. The court has given Sumit one month’s time to find the accommodation and intimate Tapaswini as well as the HC.
Earlier, the district court had ordered Tapaswini to live in Sumit’s paternal house in Bramahnagar and asked him to pay Rs 17,000 by the 10th of every month as maintenance.
Tapaswini Dash will stay with her husband, Dr Sumit Sahu, at her in-laws’ place in Bramhanagar till the next hearing, said her lawyer Manas Chand.
Tapaswini has been fighting for justice since November 22, last year.
