Konark: The light and sound show will resume at the Sun Temple in Konark from May 22.
The show had been stopped since May 2, when the severe cyclonic storm Fani was headed towards the region. As it was taking place all these days, experts are checking the projector and lights.
Culture and Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda visited the site in Konark on May 14 and announced that the show can be started after some repair work. “Not that the gadgets were damaged in the cyclone, but the show can start once everything is verified,” a source said.
There will be two shows, one from 7.30-8.10pm and another from 8.30-9.10pm. The tickets are priced at Rs 50 per person. As many as eight projectors will be used for the show.
The 40-minute show will be presented in Odia, Hindi and English languages to inform tourists about the rich history of the Black Pagoda.
Audiences will also be provided wireless headphones in which they can listen to a narration of the place’s history in the voice of Bollywood actors Kabir Bedi and Shekhar Suman and Ollywood actor Bijaya Moanty.
Once this show commences, visitors can be at the premises till 10pm.
