New Delhi: Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Jhund’ has been cleared for release on OTT platform.
The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed a Telangana High Court order to put its OTT release on hold. Hyderabad-based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar had filed a petition alleging copyright violation.
On Thursday, a bench of justices Indira Banerjee and AS Bopanna said: “It prima facie, appears to this court that the order of status quo passed by the high court is clearly against the balance of convenience… The impugned order of the high court shall remain stayed in the meanwhile.”
Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited, the producers of Jhund, filed an appeal against the April 29 order of Telangana HC.
‘Jhund’ revolves around the story of football coach Vijay Barse, played by Amitabh Bachchan.
The film was released in theatres on March 4. It will be streaming on ZEE5 from May 6.
