Berhampur: Giving its ruling in the dispute between a couple in Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district, the District and Sessions court here on Tuesday ordered that Tapaswini Dash will stay with her husband, Dr Sumit Sahu, in her in-laws’ place in Bramhanagar. Sahu will pay Rs 17,000 per month to her to meet her expenses, the court ordered.

The court in its order asked the couple not to cast aspersions on each other. The court ordered Dash to give a receipt of the amount she receives for her monthly expenses.

The couple is locked in a marital dispute, which played out in public and drew media attention.

Tapaswini filed a petition on December 17 at the SDJM court to allow her to stay at her husband’s residence. The court rejected her petition on December 20. She filed another petition in the district court, challenging the SDJM court’s decision.

Sumit had also moved the district court appealing against an SDJM court order asking the couple to stay together in a rented house in a reconciliation bid.

On December 27, the District and Sessions court here had reserved its verdict till January 4.
