Bhubaneswar: Bharatpur police on Thursday arrested a teacher of a private school in Odisha capital for allegedly misbehaving with a Class X girl student.
According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s family, accused Kalucharan Badajena sought favours from the girl in exchange of questions papers for a class test. The girl told the media that he had leaked the paper to the entire class but began harassing her. He also intercepted her while she was going to market with her sister and told her that he would visit her home when her grandmother is away, the girl alleged.
A couple of days ago, the teacher wrote some objectionable remarks on her bench in the classroom. “My daughter came home crying. When we confronted the teacher, he apologised. But the reaction of the school authorities was deplorable. They were not ready to take the responsibility of students inside the school campus. Following which, we decided to lodge a complaint,” the girl’s father said.
Acting on the complaint, police detained the accused for questioning and later arrested him.
