Sambalpur: A school teacher was found dead with cut marks on throat in Kuchinda area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Prithviraj Mahananda (38), was working as a teacher at Mantrimunda Primary School and residing in Ward No. 6 locality of Kuchinda, sources said.
While the reason behind his death was yet to be ascertained, preliminary reports indicated that he was suspected to have been murdered by someone.
His body was spotted lying in a pool of blood under the new bridge over Kharla River by local residents this morning and Kuchinda police was informed.
A team of police personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the body which was sent for post-mortem. Police launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to his death.
As per sources, the teacher had gone out of the house on Friday evening but did not return. Despite frantic search, the family members failed to find him. However, his body was found this. Further details are awaited.
