Meerut: As many as 52 teachers of a private school here in Uttar Pradesh have together lodged a complaint against the school management for blackmailing them into working without salaries for months. According to the teachers, the school management filmed them secretly inside the washroom and used the videos and images to blackmail them for several months.
In their complaint, the teachers stated that the school’s management committee secretary threatened them to work without salaries using objectionable photographs and videos.
Police registered an FIR against the secretary and his son based on the complaint on Wednesday. FIR was lodged under sections 504 (intentional insult), 354 (a) (sexual harassment) and 354 (c) (voyeurism) of the Indian Penal Code.
The management committee secretary, meanwhile, has trashed the allegations. “There is no CCTV inside the women’s toilet. But they have been installed in the gents’ toilets. This was done against the backdrop of recent cases of murder inside some schools,” he was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The secretary, however, admitted that the school has failed to pay the salaries to teachers for the past few months owing to the pandemic situation.
This is the same school that had ordered its students to have a haircut like UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in 2017. The students were also asked to not keep beards as the school was “not a madrassa where people offer namaz”.
