Bhubaneswar: Over 10, 000 teachers and employees working in various schools and colleges across the state staged a massive demonstration at Mahatma Gandhi Marg on Wednesday to reiterate their demand for abolition of block grant system.
Taking out a rally from Master Canteen Square, the protestors under the banner of Odisha School and College Teachers’ Joint Coordination Committee gathered at Mahatma Gandhi Marg and held a protest meeting there.
“The teachers have been agitating since long demanding abolition of block grant system. Except for assurances, the state government hasn’t taken any tangible step in this regard. We will be forced intensify our stir, if the government does not declare its final decision on the issue,” an agitator said.
