Bhopal: Chilling details have emerged after a three-month-long probe into the alleged rape-murder of a nine-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district.
According to reports, the girl’s 13-year-old brother allegedly sexually assaulted her after watching porn on his mobile phone. He was sleeping beside her that night. When the minor girl threatened to tell this to their father, the boy strangled her. This was followed by a shocking cover-up by their mother and two sisters, aged 17 and 18, to “protect the only son in the family”.
“A nine-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death under Jawa police station limits on April 24, after which the police had filed a case and started a probe. The victim’s body was found in the courtyard of her house where she was sleeping at the time of the incident,” Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh told PTI.
The victim’s brother, their mother and sisters were detained after interrogation of 50 people, intense questioning of the accused persons and based on technical evidence. “Police found repeated changes in the statements of the family members. On the basis of suspicion, they were intensely interrogated, following which they admitted to the crime,” Singh added.
Police further stated that the girl was still breathing when the boy woke the mother up and informed her about the incident but she stood by and did nothing as the 13-year-old went back to strangling her till her last breath. The two elder sisters, who had woken up by then, changed spots on the bed to mislead the probe and claimed that she died of snakebite.
