Bhadrak: Tension erupted after a motorcyclist died in a road mishap near an under-construction bridge in Pata Pola area on Jamujhadi – Basudevpur road on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Bipin Behera was a native of Basathi village under Basudevpur police limits.
According to sources, the accident took place while he was returning home after meeting his father, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital. He fell into a trench along the bridge and died on the spot after colliding straight into a concrete wall.
Locals blamed the construction firm for not putting up a barrier or any signal or warning, indicating diversion near the bridge and staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the victim.
Basudevpur police soon rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd.
A case has been registered in this connection and the body sent for postmortem.
