Balasore: Tension prevailed at a government hospital in Jaleswar area of Odisha’s Balasore district following the death of a patient with his family members alleging that he died due to negligence.
The incident took place at the community health centre (CHC) at Hatigada under Jaleswar block of the district after the patient died while undergoing treatment on Friday night.
The family of the deceased alleged that the patient died due to negligence and administration of wrong injection.
The deceased has been identified as Gangadhara Mahanta (45) from Sankhabhanga village under Jaleswar block in the district.
According to sources, Mahanta was admitted to the hospital following a complaint of abdomen pain on Thursday. His family members alleged that he was administered a wrong injection by the nurse after which he died on Friday night.
It was alleged that the injection was administered as prescribed by the doctor without examining the patient.
“When his pain intensified in the night, I called the nurse who administered an injection to my husband after which he died,” she alleged.
Following the incident, the family members of the deceased patient created ruckus at the hospital over the death due to medical negligence.
The hospital authorities, however, dismissed the allegation and said there was no negligence on the part of the medical staff.
