Koraput: Palpable tension prevailed in the campus of Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (LCNMCH) in Odisha’s Koraput following a clash between doctors and relatives of a patient.
According to sources, two persons going on a motorcycle were critically injured as they met an accident with a truck near Mausima temple in the town late Saturday. They were rushed LCN Hospital where one of them succumbed. Accusing the medical staff of neglecting in rendering services to the patient, his relatives had an argument with a doctor.
The argument led to heated exchange of words and in a fit of rage, the patient’s relatives assaulted the doctor. The matter took a turn for the worse as some junior doctors, on getting the information, came to the place and started to beat up the patient’s relatives.
Even as the group of relatives tried to flee, the doctors were found chasing and attacking them in the campus. A video on the incident has gone viral on social media on Sunday. However, on being informed, a team from Koraput police station rushed to the hospital and brought the situation under control.
The deceased patient’s wife and the doctors have filed complaints against each other at Pangi police station, said Koraput SDPO Manoj Kumar Pujari. Nobody has been arrested in this connection and further investigation is on, he added.
