Sundargarh: A group of burglars looted more than 15 houses and decamped with valuables worth Rs 45 lakh from a residential colony at Sanindpur in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
According to sources, the the incident took place in the staff quarters located in Rungta Mines colony at Sanindpur under the jurisdiction of Koida Police Station in the district.
Sources said the thieves jumped over the fences and entered the houses by cutting open the door locks. The stole jewellery and valuables worth more than Rs 40 lakh, apart from cash amounting to Rs 5 lakh, from 15 different houses in the colony.
The incident reportedly took place on Friday night when most of the residents were away for the weekend. The incident came to light on Saturday and residents of the colony informed the police.
On being informed, police officials from Koida visited the spot along with a scientific team and started an investigation into the incident. Efforts are on to identify and trace the burglars.
