Three Killed In Elephant Attacks In Dhenkanal, Nuapada

Dhenkanal/Nuapda: Three persons were killed in elephant attacks in Odisha’s Dhenkanal and Nuapda districts on Tuesday.

In Dhenkanal, two persons were killed in Sarang area under Dihadola forest section of Mahabirod Forest Range in Kamakhyanagar sub-division.
Sources said three inmates of an ashram at Sanakhandanala in Kamakhyanagar block had gone to Brahmani river bank to attend nature’s call in the morning when they were suddenly attacked by an elephant. While one of the inmates managed to escape, the elephant trampled the two others, killing them on the spot.
Following information, forest staff of Dihadola Forest Section rushed to the spot.
In another incident, an old man of Karangbhata village of Sialalati Panchayat under Komna block in Nuapada district was killed after being attacked by seven elephants when he had gone to his field in the morning.
The deceased has been identified as Sahadev Parabhue.
A herd of about 12 elephants from the Balangir Forest Division has been seen roaming in the nearby forest areas in Komna block and creating havoc in the nearby villages.
