Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued thunderstorm alert for seven districts of Odisha.
The alert has been sounded for Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Cuttack districts till 6:30 pm.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued heatwave warning for Odisha and predicted that similar weather conditions are likely to prevail across the state till June 23.
Bhubaneswar emerged as the hottest among other cities at 42.3 degree Celsius on Monday.
The Met office has also indicted formation of a cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, but it is most likely to intensify into a low pressure in the next 48 hours.
