Bhubaneswar: While Odisha is likely to experience thunderstorm activity till April 7 morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecast formation of a low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal around May 8.
“A cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over Southeast Bay of Bengal around May 6, 2023. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during subsequent 48 hours,” the agency said.
It is yet to make a prediction on whether the system will intensify into a cyclonic storm.

Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain across the state is also likely on May 3 and May 4. There could be slight increase in the day temperature after 4-5 days, it added.
