Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Thursday issued thunderstorm and hail warning for 22 districts of Odisha.
The alert has been sounded for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Bhadrak and Balasore districts.
According to the Met bulletin, thunder squall accompanied by hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places in these districts.
People residing in these places have been advised to stay indoors or move to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
Fishermen have also been asked not to venture into the sea as high tides are expected during these hours.
