Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm coupled with rain and lightning is likely to hit at least nine districts of Odisha, including state capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city on Wednesday evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
Sounding yellow alert at 7 pm, the weather agency said that light to moderate thunderstorm with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph, lightning and light to moderate rain is likely to affect some parts of districts of Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Puri and Jajpur districts within next three hours.
It also sounded yellow warning for Bhuhaneswar and Cuttack cities.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places protect from lightning strike.
