Bhubaneswar: Even as southwest monsoon covered most parts of Odisha, thunderstorm coupled with rain, lightning and gusty wind is likely to lash many areas of the state for the next few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
Director of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar Manorama Mohanty said the intensity of rain may decrease for two days on June 23 and 24 and pick up from June 25 onwards.
Southwest monsoon has already covered 24 districts of the state and is likely to advance into the rest six districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Balasore, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj soon.
Most parts of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rain/thundershower for the next one week.
The weather agency has issued Yellow Warning of thunderstorm with lightning at some places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda in the next 24 hours.
Similarly, heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal during the period.

June 25
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Rayagada.
