Bengaluru: The TikTok ban has turned out to be an expensive proposition for parent ByteDance. It has already fired 1,800 employees in India and is now looking to sell off its Indian assets to rival Glance.
TikTok faced the brunt of the Indian government following the India-China border clash which led to the ban of several Chinese apps.
The sale would, however, let TikTok be back on the market.
SoftBank, one of the investors in TikTok, has reportedly held discussions with Glance’s parent company InMobi Pte and ByteDance.
Neither companies have officially commented on the matter yet.
