Bhubaneswar: Most parts of interior Odisha on Friday came under intense heatwave with Titlagarh in Balangir district emerging as the hottest place recording the temperature of 45.4 degree Celsius.
Mercury surged past 40 degree at 11 places including Jharsuguda (42.2), Sambalpur (42.2), Hirakud (42.3), Talcher (43.1), Bhawanipatna (44.5), Balangir (44), Phulbani (41), Malkangiri (43), Sonepur (41.8), Boudh (42.7) and Paralakhemundi (41).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in an evening bulletin, said that maximum day temperature is most likely to go up by 2-3°C across the state during next two days while it will be 40°C or more in some areas of the interior region.
