Ganjam: Six persons, including four of a family, went missing after their house was swept away by floodwaters of Adangi river at Bhutapankal village under Sorada block in Ganjam district on Thursday.
The river has been in spate following heavy rain triggered by very severe cyclonic storm, Titli.
According to the sources, the house was constructed under Indira Awas Yojana. When floodwaters of the river gushed into the villagers, the family, including a couple, their son and daughter-in-law, rushed to the roof. However, they were swept away with the house, along with two other persons who had taken shelter on the roof of their house.
“Rescue operation has begun and efforts are on to trace the missing persons,” informed Ganjam collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
