Tokyo: Discus thrower Yogesh Kathuniya got a silver medal in the men’s F56 event in the Paralympics here on Monday.
The 24-year-old B.Com graduate from New Delhi’s Kirorimal College, threw the disc 44.38m in his sixth and last attempt to clinch the silver.
Defending champion and reigning world champion, Brazilian Claudiney Batista dos Santos won the gold with the best throw of 45.59m. Cuba’s Leonardo Diaz Aldana (43.36m) took the bronze.
India had got a silver (high jump) and a bronze (discus throw) on Sunday. The bronze medal though is on hold due to a protest lodged.
