Bhubaneswar: The Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has taken a serious note of one of its employees being apprehended by Vigilance while accepting bribe and decided to take stern action against him.
Arvind Singh, CEO, TPSODL, in a tweet, said the company has already formed a high-level committee comprising senior officials to conduct an internal inquiry into the bribe charge. Strict action will be initiated against the employee which may lead to termination of his service, he added.
“We are looking into the case and are in touch with the State Vigilance Department. The bribery charge against the Engineer is a matter of serious concern for us and against the work ethics of TPSODL. A strict action will be taken against the erring officer which may include suspension and even termination of services,” said Singh in the tweet.
Earlier in the day, Vigilance sleuths apprehended Praveen Hota, Assistant Engineer, Electrical, TPSODL, Boriguma in Koraput district while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 bribe. He had demanded illegal gratification from a helper engaged on an outsourcing basis, threatening him to discontinue his contract, if he did not pay the bribe.
After the Vigilance officials nabbed Hota accepting the bribe money, they launched simultaneous searches on his properties at 4 places in Koraput and Ganjam districts.
