Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority (STA) has withdrawn the authority to Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) of Traffic to penalise violators of traffic rules in Odisha.
In a letter to all the regional and Additional Regional Transport Officers of Rairangpur, Barbil and Khurda, the STA mentioned about having withdrawn its previous order enabling the traffic police to collect fines.
Henceforth, Traffic ASIs can neither collect fines nor issue e-challans and penalise traffic violators, it added.
