Bhubaneswar: To make things more comfortable for traffic constables, traffic posts in the city will now get a make-over.
Commissionerate Police will be installing five smart traffic posts with solar power and a light, fan, charging point, water bottle holder, flip stool, locker system and optional glass panels. The cost of equipping each traffic light will be Rs 1.5 lakh.
To begin with, these posts will be installed at AG Square, Airport Square, Sur Company Square, near Capital Hospital and Rabindra Mandap Square.
Solar panels will eliminate the need of drawing wires to the post and will also ensure uninterrupted green power supply.
In Bhubaneswar, around 500 traffic personnel work on about 60 traffic posts.
Traffic personnel deployed on NH-16 will also get shoulder flicker lights as they are exposed to high-speed traffic.
