Tragic Accident At Cuttack Bali Jatra: +2 Student Dies After Accidentally Touching String Lights

Cuttack: A promising youthful life ended in Cuttack on Sunday as a sophomore was electrocuted by multicolour colour changing string lights. Biswaprakash Manthan, a native of Jagatsinghpur district, accidentally came in contact with the lights at Bali Jatra, causing his death.

The 17-year-old was studying in Plus II at Saraswati Sishu Mandir in Tulsipur, Cuttack.

Going by eyewitness accounts, the boy allegedly got electrocuted when thousands of people were enjoying their weekend at the annual trade fair.

Preliminary reports said there was confusion about the victim. While the school representatives maintained that he came with his brother that morning, doctors at SCB Medical College said a friend accompanied him in a police van after the mishap. For now, the family is still being updated on this tragic news.

Questions That Still Linger On Power Supply

The tragic incident has shocked the whole community although the main cause of the electrical shock is still unknown. The occurrence has raised questions about the protection and legislative measures in the given zone of electricity provision. Police have taken the body into possession as efforts are on to determine what led to this fatal incident.
