Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said stern action would be taken against anybody who would be found responsible for the extremely tragic train mishap in Odisha’s Balasore.
Speaking to media persons after visiting the accident spot at Bahanaga in Balasore district, the Prime Minister said, “It was a very tragic accident. I can feel the pain of the families who have lost their loved ones. Many people of different states have suffered loss in some way or other. It is highly disturbing incident.”
Assuring the families of those who lost their lives that the government was with them, he said all possible steps would be taken for treatment of those injured in the accident.
“The government has taken the incident very seriously and issued instructions for investigations from all possible angles. Those found responsible for the heartbreaking incident will not be spared,” Modi said.
He expressed his appreciation of the efforts of the state government, district officials and the local people in rescue operation. “The people of the area, particularly the youths have done a tremendous job. They have been helping the accident victims throughout the night tirelessly. I appreciate their efforts,” he added.
Stating that the Railways has mobilised all its resources for rescue operation, the Prime Minister said restoration works were going on so that train movement on the route can be normlised.
“I met the passengers injured in the accident. I appreciate their courage and will power. I pray to God to give all of us strength to tide over the grave tragedy,” said Modi.
