Jeypore: Town police on Monday arrested two persons in connection with lifting motorcycles and snatching golden chains and buying the booty in the town.
Jeypore sub-divisional police officer Arup Abhishekh Behera told newsmen that Badal Nag (30) of Gopabandhu Nagar was booked for stealing gold chains and lifting motorcycles while Manik Kumbhar of Kumbharput was arrested for buying stolen goods.
The arrests were made on the basis of a complaint filed by Kumari Sahu of Gopabandhu Nagar stating that her nuptial chain (Mangalsutra) was snatched by a miscreant. Similarly, Sanatana Behera of Paika Street had complained to Town Police that his motorcycle was looted at knife point by the culprit.
Subsequently, Nag was arrested and on the basis of his inputs Manik was picked up as she was accused of buying the booty from Nag.
The police have seized a gold chain weighing seven grams, a motorcycle and a knife from Badal. He was involved in 24 cases of smuggling ganja, lifting motorcycles and chain-snatching in various police station limits of Jeypore and Boipariguda, the SDPO said. The two were also sent to the court, he added.
