Bhubaneswar: Two persons died after a car rammed into a stationary truck near Pahala on NH-16, which connects the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, late on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Amulya Das of Jajpur and Sushil Kumar Kar, a native of Bhadrak who stayed at Hanspal here.
According to sources, the Fire Service unit at Pahala received a call about an accident around 2.30 am and rescued 3 persons trapped in the car. They were then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where doctors declared two among them as dead. The other occupant of the car, who is also said to be from Jajpur, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The car was en route to Bhubaneswar from Cuttack when the accident took place.
Sources further said that Sushil, who ran a transport agency, got vegetables for home last night and then left with some friend for a feast.
Police said that investigation into the accident is underway.
