New Delhi: Amid the Centre-farmers stand-off, many farmers from the Indian Kisan Union and Kisan Sangharsh Samiti from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi called on Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday. They also extended support to the new farm laws.
“Representatives of the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, Gautam Budh Nagar, UP and Indian Kisan Union, New Delhi gave memorandum in favour of new farm laws. They thanked the prime minister and said that these laws will improve the conditions of farmers and should not be repealed,” Tomar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI after the meeting.
The meeting took place following the protesting farmers’ remark on Tuesday that the Centre was wasting time by inviting them to a fresh round of talks. They also reiterated their demand to completely revoke the contentious farm laws.
