Sambalpur: With less flow of Mahanadi water from the upper catchments, the Hirakud Dam authorities on Wednesday closed two sluice gates.
The water level of the dam recorded at 9 am was 619.31 feet while the inflow and outflow from the remaining two gates were 63,796 cusecs and 82,866 cusecs per second respectively.
Notably, the dam authorities had opened 14 gates on Tuesday but closed 10 gates later in the day.
As informed by the dam authorities, they have been able to maintain the water level of the dam within 620 feet by August 21 as per the Rule Curve.
