Malkangiri: Police on Friday arrested two hardcore Maoists for their alleged involvement in the murder of a villager, who was gunned down on the suspicion of being a police informer a couple of days back.
The accused have been identified as Ganga Madkami and Budra Madkami.
On June 20, a group of 15-20 armed ultras barged into the house of Rama Madkami at Sudhakonda village under Kalimela police limits in the district while he was sleeping and dragged him out of his dwelling. They forcibly took him to a cremation ground near the village and gunned him down.
The ultras had left behind a letter near the body in which they had threatened the villagers of similar consequences if they worked for police personnel.
Police recovered the bullet-ridden body the following morning.
During the course of investigation, police came to know about involvement of the duo in the murder case and apprehended them.
