Jeypore: Two youths were killed in a clash between villagers during ‘Chaitra Parba’ at Sindhipar village in Odisha’s Koraput district on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Debendra Jani and Purna Nayak of Jhadiguda village.
According to reports, a group of villagers from Jhadiguda had gone to Sindhipar village on Thursday night to watch ‘Chaitra Parba’. An argument broke out over a trivial issue between the villagers of Jhadiguda and Sindhipar. A clash broke out soon after in which Jani and Nayak, who were from Jhadiguda, were killed.
Another villager, identified as Somnath Dami, suffered grievous injuries in the clash. He was shifted to a hospital in Visakhapatnam after his condition deteriorated.
A police team led by Damanjodi police station IIC Gourahari Sahu reached the spot. Some villagers are being questioned but the main accused is on the run.
Two platoons of police force have been deployed in the area.
