Berhampur: Police here have arrested two persons, who were allegedly running an IPL betting racket worth crore of rupees in the entire southern region.
According to sources, bookies – Lali and Pila Pradhan – were apprehended following a raid led by Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra on Thursday and are currently being interrogated. Around Rs 30 lakh in cash was also seized from their possession.
A senior police officer told the media that several other bookies are still absconding and a blueprint has been prepared to nab them.
Earlier, Aska police had arrested three agents. The interrogation revealed that the racket was active throughout the state, including Berhampur and Bhubaneswar.
