Bhubaneswar: Police in Bhubaneswar on Friday arrested two more accused in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a minor girl under Nayapalli police limits.
They have been identified as Papu Diwedi (21) and Prakash Behera (23).
With this, the arrests in the case has risen to five. The mobile phone used for filming the heinous crime has also been seized.
“We are trying to ascertain their criminal antecedents. Some of them are students. They had shared the footage of the sexual assault with the girl and her mother. We are also trying to ascertain if they have uploaded it on any sites or circulated it on social media,” Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra told reporters.
Though the incident had taken place on October 16, the survivor, who is from Nayagarh district. lodged a complaint with police on October 30.

On Thursday, police arrested three persons, including a teenage minor girl. The accused girl had allegedly coerced the survivor to meet one of the four alleged perpetrators, identified as Raja Pattnaik (19). They subsequently extorted around Rs 72 lakh from the survivor and her mother by threatening to circulate the footage of the assault on social media.
While police initially nabbed the accused juvenile, Raja and Deepak Behera (19) and forwarded them to court, the other two were later detained for questioning. All four men are from Bhubaneswar.
